Fear (A Poem)

Four letters of captivity,
The ball and chain that hold people back.
Beaten and abused to passivity-
Helpless to defend against the enemy’s attack.

Fear reigns in the mind.
It sits on the throne of conformity,
With intentions to rule mankind;
A serious brain deformity.

God did not give you the spirit of fear,
But of love, power, and a sound mind.
And with this knowledge let it be clear
That if you give into fear you become spiritually blind.

If you are failing to move,
It is because fear paralyzes
And the only way to move is to remove
The fear that arises.

In Him, you are renewed,
In Him the chains are loose.
No longer subject to fear’s turpitude.
No longer subject to fear’s abuse.

For He is the cocoon that transforms,
He wraps you under his wings.
Spinning His feathers around, He forms…
You; the child of the King of kings.

You must remember when you are struggling to get ahead,
One lesson He has taught
To you and me, He said,
“My sons, my daughters, fear not.”
